is this some chilean vernacular i'm unfamiliar with? because i'm reading it as "chocolate map".

Yeah, you're right.

I was using the words as if it was Nahuatl, I guess it depends on context since mapa can be used for the word painting. That being said, I think pintura would been a better word. Nahuatl has a lot of loanwords from spanish.

ahhh, very interesting. my spanish is very rusty, and never included central and south american dialects. i did learn to speak Castellano pretty well, but that was 10 years ago when i visited Spain.

i also dated a Basque girl for a month. that was always interesting when she would switch to Basque mid-conversation...
